The opening month is the most demanding stretch on the calendar. West Georgia hosts Chattanooga on a Thursday night in Week Zero, then turns straight around for another Thursday night game a week later at Kennesaw State — a drive of barely an hour across metro Atlanta and a meeting with a Conference USA program that made the same climb from Division II a few years earlier.
