Which St. Thomas Tommies games are worth watching in 2026?
The September 5 trip to Grand Forks is the headline test. North Dakota comes in ranked 14th nationally, and a non-scholarship PFL program walking into the Alerus Center against a Missouri Valley contender is the sort of measuring-stick game the Tommies have made a habit of scheduling. Two weeks later they get another scholarship opponent at home when Southern Utah visits O'Shaughnessy Stadium, and that one is worth a look for a different reason: the Thunderbirds are rejoining the Big Sky in 2026, so this arrives with a program in transition. The non-conference slate also renews two Upper Midwest Division II series, with Winona State opening things on a Thursday night in late August and Northern Michigan making the trip down from Marquette on September 12.
Conference play is stacked with occasions. Homecoming falls on September 26 against San Diego, a rematch of a 30-27 loss in California last season that still stings. Halloween brings Davidson to St. Paul, and the Tommies close the home schedule on Senior Day against Drake on November 14 — the game most likely to carry title weight, given that St. Thomas handed the eventual PFL champions their only conference loss last year with a 20-13 win in Des Moines.
