Southern Jaguars Football TV Schedule, Channels, Times

How to watch live stream Southern Jaguars football game today, tonight, or tomorrow? What channel & time?

The Southern Jaguars compete in the SWAC, and their 2026 broadcast picture is the most varied of any team in the league. Six games run on SWAC TV, the conference's streaming service, while two go out on HBCU GO. Three land on national television: the season opener against Alabama State airs on ESPNU, the road trip to Jackson State is part of the SWAC's package on the ESPN family of networks, and the Bayou Classic against Grambling State closes the year on NBC. The visit to Houston streams on ESPN+. All of it arrives in year one of the Marshall Faulk era — the Pro Football Hall of Fame running back took over in Baton Rouge after a season as running backs coach at Colorado, inheriting a team that went 2-10 but beat Grambling in the Bayou Classic.

Which Southern Jaguars games are worth watching in 2026?

Marshall Faulk's first game in charge is also the most watchable opener in the SWAC. Southern meets Alabama State at Legion Field in Birmingham on August 29 in the Birmingham Football Classic, with ESPNU carrying it nationally — the second straight year the Jaguars have opened at a neutral site, and this time with one of the most recognizable names in football history on the sideline. The season then ends where it always does: the 53rd Bayou Classic against Grambling State at the Caesars Superdome on November 28, in front of a crowd that topped 63,000 last year and an NBC audience. Southern took that one 28-27, salvaging an otherwise difficult season, and the Human Jukebox makes the halftime show an event in itself.

In between, the Jaguars spend a remarkable amount of time in the Houston area — September 12 at TDECU Stadium against Big 12 member Houston, then October 10 at Prairie View A&M and October 24 against Texas Southern at NRG Stadium. Homecoming falls October 3 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and the September 5 home opener carries its own weight as the Pete Richardson Classic against Kentucky State, named for the coach who delivered three of Southern's Black college national titles. The stretch that will decide the division comes in November, with Bethune-Cookman and Alcorn State both visiting Mumford Stadium.
