Which South Carolina State Bulldogs games are worth watching in 2026?
Nothing else on the schedule matches the Orange Blossom Classic. The Bulldogs meet Florida A&M at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday of Labor Day weekend in the 52nd edition of the event, in front of a national ESPN audience — and it is South Carolina State's first appearance in the classic since 1973, when the Rattlers won a 23-12 decision. FAMU is the designated home team and opens a new era under head coach Quinn Gray Sr., which sets up a sideline rematch with Berry from their SIAC title-game meeting three years ago. The reigning HBCU national champions could hardly ask for a louder stage to open on.
The in-state stretch is the other draw. South Carolina State plays eight games inside the Palmetto State this year, including a September 19 trip to Furman and back-to-back October dates with The Citadel in Orangeburg and Charleston Southern in North Charleston, giving Lowcountry fans two shots at the Bulldogs in eight days. Conference play brings Homecoming against Norfolk State on October 24 and closes with a pair of home games that could decide the MEAC race, first North Carolina Central on November 14 and then Delaware State on Senior Day. Sandwiched between are two Thursday night road trips in a row, to Morgan State and Howard — an unusual midweek stretch that tends to signal television interest.
