Which East Texas A&M Lions games are worth watching in 2026?
The opener is the biggest stage in program history. East Texas A&M travels to Macon on August 29 for the FCS Kickoff against Mercer, the event that formally opens the FCS season and the only game in the country in its window — carried live on ESPN with no competition. A week later the Lions face the defending Southland champion, making their first trip to Nacogdoches since 2023 to play Stephen F. Austin under the lights. That opening pair means East Texas A&M is tested nationally and within the conference before September is half over.
The September 19 trip to Tulsa is the only meeting with an FBS opponent, and it caps a stretch of three road games in the season's first four weeks. At home, the standout date is October 24, when Prairie View A&M comes to Commerce for Hall of Fame Weekend in a rare SWAC crossover. Homecoming falls three weeks earlier against UTRGV, and the Lions close out at Memorial Stadium on November 21 against Incarnate Word for a combined Ag Day and Senior Day. Because 2026 is the first season East Texas A&M plays every other Southland member, the league schedule offers no soft landing anywhere.
